Wedding Crashers

I went to see this movie on its opening night, anticipating many laughs and giggles. This movie DID NOT disappoint me! This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long, long time. I must say however that the humor involved is very crude at times, so if you have children that want to see it, consider that fact, and that there is brief nudity as well.

I don't want to spoil the movie too much, but I can say at least that Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn play two guys that specialize in crashing weddings. They go to many different weddings, have routines practiced to pick up women. Their relationship in the movie is one of the things that makes the movie so good. They work well together. Wilson plays the soft spoken character, while Vaughn is a lot more rough around the edges.

If you want a movie that's going to make you laugh, and you can handle shock humor, like There's Something About Mary, then
there's a good chance you'll like Wedding Crashers. I'm not sure all people that like comedies would like it though. The whole theater was laughing so many times, it was just one of those movies that's fun to see there. I'll probably buy it on DVD too when it comes out.

Two very cool programs

I love watching movies, and I love playing video games. These two programs allow me to do both of them, and I can get new movies, or games pretty much as often as I want.

The DVD rental program I'm talking about is NetFlix. You can have 3 DVDs out from them at one time, and they provide the shipping. If you want a new DVD, send one back and you can create a list of what you want to watch. They'll send you the next DVD on your list. This all for $9.99 a month, which is outrageous! You can rent about 15 DVDs easily in a month, and that would cost you $30-50 at a rental store. With NetFlix you only pay $9.99. Sign up for a free trial below.

Try Netflix for Free!

The second program that I have really enjoyed over the past year is Gamerang. I was renting a game a week, and spending way more money than it costs to rent through this program. You can choose how many games you want out at one time. You send the game back, and the next game you want is sent to you FREE. Plus you can get the game you want, where when I go to rent a game at a video store, sometimes they don't have it. Anyway, they offer a FREE TRIAL too.

Blue Rent

Take advantage of the free trial if anything. If you don't like it, simply cancel the program. I like how you can see what they have too beforehand

When God passed out brains, they thought he said chains, so they said "no thanks"

Remind you of anyone? I know, I know... we all go through phases here and there where we do dumb things. But I know I'm not like that all the time.

Here's some stories I found that let us know how dumb people can really be:

During a daily Biology class, we were discussing how DNA is made by taking enzymes from eaten food and using the enzymes to build the DNA. ANYWAY, my teacher said "Now, when I eat the carrot, the enzymes from the carrot help to build strands of DNA." And this girl in the front row asks without a hitch "So then is DNA made of carrots?"

I work in a convenience store. A while ago, a woman came in, grabbed a bottle of soda and a candy bar, and came up to the counter. "That'll be $1.65," I told her. She looked at me kind of strangely for a moment, then picked up the soda and asked, "How much is this?" "A dollar," I said. Then she picked up the candy bar. "And how much is this?" she asked.

I have a friend we will call him Maki. I told everyone at the lunch table at school that I aced my social studies test. He said "Did you get an A on it?"

I had just gotten my debit-card. I hadn't had a chance to sign it yet and I went into the store. The girl, seeing that it wasn't signed, gave me her pen and asked if I would sign the card. I did. So she proceeds with the purchase, hands me the receipt to sign and then takes the card holds it up next to the receipt and compares the signatures

My old roommate had a burned out turn indicator. After telling him about it, he asked, "Do you think it needs more blinker fluid?"

I was at sleep away camp and there was a really bad storm. Eventually we lost power and most of my friends went scrambling for our flashlights. My best friend at camp (sadly), shouted, "Oh no! Since we don't have electricity our flashlights won't work!" It took awhile, but we managed to explain to her that flashlights run on batteries. I'm still not sure she gets it, but someday she'll understand.

Once my aunt had a terrible headache so she took an aspirin and soon felt better. Later that day she was looking for a button that had fallen off her blouse. She didn't find the button but she found an aspirin in her pocket!

Get into the Groove!

I like to listen to music as much as the next person. Here are some of the links that I use, in case some of you don't know some good sites out there.

First of all, for a decent mp3 player, I use WinAmp, because you can play with different skins, and colors. You can get winamp here FREE:

I was watching TV the other night, and saw this advertisement for a great source for music, called Rhapsody. I downloaded it, because it said Free Rhapsody. I got 25 free downloads, and it did have a pretty great set-up, but I wanted more. Call me greedy I guess. Anyway, After that you can join for $9.95 a month. You then have access to over a million songs and videos. I haven't subscribed to that yet, but I thought I'd share it with you. Try Rhapsody here:

Another cool thing that I like to use is Radio Netscape. With Radio Netscape you download a player, kind of like a digital satellite radio, but for your computer. You then can select a music genre of your choice. They have some good channels to choose from

The final great Music source that I do use is ITunes. A lot of you already know about it, but I really have found ITunes to be a great site. They have so much to offer! You can build your own Music Library, plus they now have over 8,000 audio books! They have so many songs, it's hard to find one they don't have.

Get ITunes Now:

Coughing fits, hiccups, and sneeze attacks

I'm sitting in my college class, reach down and grab my bottle of soda, take a swig, and wham... wrong tube. I then go into the coughing fit of a lifetime. I mean my eyes are watering so I can't see. I knew I had to get out of there because I was going to put on a show. Nice when that happens in front of a lecture hall full of peers. No chance I was sneaking out of that one without being in the spotlight. I proceeded to raise my hand and cough out, "I'll be fine," amid the chuckles of the people in the back row. I was so glad I sat close to the front that day. I could not stop for over 30 minutes. I felt too embarrassed to go back into the class anyway.

Ever happen to you???

"When I was younger, so much younger than today..." I used to get the hiccups all the time. Is
there some scientific fact that makes this happen, or is it a developmental thing? I don't get them much at all anymore. I used to get them every time I went to Wendy's and took my first drink of Mt. Dew. Weird that I can remember something like that.

I've had episodes of the hiccups in the past where I've tried multiple avenues to get rid of them. I've held my breath... no dice. Drank a cup of water... notta. Swallowed sugar (someone's idea) ... ummm, no. Drinking a cup of water upside down... lemme think about it... NO. And of course the famous "drink backwards technique"...whice still didn't work.

And why do most of these remedies rely on you plugging your nose?? hee hee I know, I know... because it works!

There are so many different sounds when people sneeze. My Dad sounds like he's going to be taking his last breaths as he forces out about 2-7 sneezes in a row. Sad to say, I'm getting like that too. I'm a relatively loud sneezer. I figure if I'm going to sneeze, I may as well let people know about it. Then you hear ladies that let out the little 'choo'... IS THAT IT?? I usually sneeze 2-4 times when I have to. I remember this teacher I know, Mr. Minkin. When that man sneezes, I think half of his goal is to get you to wet yourself from being startled. It's loud, and it's abrupt, and it comes out of nowhere. There's no AHHHH... it's just AHCHOO... and you jump 10 feet off the ground.

Sometimes sneezing is pleasing, but most of the time for me it isn't....

OUR BODY IS WEIRD sometimes

Awesome game for the PC

I like player First Person Shooters if I'm playing a game on my computer. In the past I've found a few games that really stuck with me, and I wanted to play again and again.

I would have to say that one of my favorite games so far that I've played on my PC would have to be

No One Lives Forever

The game is similar to a James Bond setting. You're special agent Cate Archer, who has to take on H.A.R.M, with all of her gadgets and know-how. The gadgets change throughout the game, and you can also select between different skill levels. It's based in the 60's, with kind of a hippie theme. It also kind of reminds me of Austin Powers, but not quite as sexual. It has a lot of levels too, so you won't finish it in an hour or two, and you will enjoy it.

You get to jump out of a plane, operate in stealth mode (avoiding security guards and cameras), shoot a lot of baddies, scuba dive down to a sunken ship, and much, much more fun things.

Some of the gadgets you get to use... a barette also used as a lockpick/weapon, sunglasses that are also a camera, lipstick bombs... and plenty more (I wouldn't want to spoil it too much).

This game was game of the year for 2000, and has since seen a sequel, NOLF2. I have this game now, but haven't played it yet. I've been preoccupied with a few other games that I'll be talking about later. Some can be found on the sidebar, under Great games.

Here's the sequel, No One Lives Forever 2
